Major TF2 update planned for April
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/03...ed_for_april/1
If Team Fortress 2 is starting to seem a little old to you then wait just a week or two longer - new gamemodes and maps are on the way.

Still haven't played the 360 version I've got yet (too busy trying to complete HL2 first).

Lovin TF2 here...

), hope this becomes an extra weapon, not just a replacement for an already existing weapon. As for Payload / Goldrush, this sound good fun actually, and a nice change to some of the already enjoyable combinations. I have just 1 issue with unlockable weapons, that new players wont have them, old players will, as such, the new get pwnt by the older players, this can make the game very unenjoyable for those that did not pick up the game at an early stage. On the flip side, if the achievments are easy to get, and weapons easy to unlock, then may not be toomuch of an issue. Certainly be nice to have a selection of a few extra weapons for sure. Either way I look forward to the new addtions to the game, about time they added some more content to spice the game up a lil

TF2 is balance perfection at the moment....
Doing somthing like this could mass up the game totally.....but then again it could work out good...we will have to see.

With regards to the unlockables if they are easy to get but don't make you more powerful but instead give different options then i'm all for them if however they are a license to pwn noobs then i can see the games popularity tailing off pretty quickly.

The first thing that came to mind with the issue of pwning noobs is to create an option in servers to disable these unlocked weapons (especially noob servers) to create fairness until the noobs have a chance to earn the weapons themselves.

I've played a custom map like the described Payload on a russian server just a while ago. I wonder if it was leaked or just a coincidence.

TF2 is about balance, remember using this unlock means you are not invincible so although you can kill a lot of people the medic is a sitting duck. Its not like COD4 were you get an unlock and anyone who has it will be a lot better. These unlocks have disadvantages not just advantages, it will also add a new tactical level to TF2.
You wouldnt use a crit uber to say take a cp you`d still need a typical uber the crit will probably be used more as the backup and defensive roles. I cant see these new unlocks breaking the balance of the game I trust valve and they normally get things right. |

I'm quite excited for it, it'll be good to get back into TF2 again when the update comes out. Then when I'm tired of it hopefully there's more content for CoD4

^^What this guy said ....it would definitely make it unenjoyable for me if they move to a whole MMO-style situation where you need to "grind" out the achievements in order to get any of the "good stuff" :-/ Let us hope that's not the case

I trust Valve won't screw this up. As before, they'll just scrap it if it becomes imbalanced.
