I used an ND filter on the lens to get around a 30 second exposure, and a bit of a colour tweak in PS.

It's a nice shot.
If I'm being critical I have to say I think it lacks interest because of the uniformity of textures. The colors and gradation of colors are fantastic however.

Another from the same set that might hold a little more interest.

I like both. The first has a bolder, more present feel to it. The second allows the eye to wander across the scene for the details, particularly the dark shapes on the water.

I just realized I hadn't yet commented on this photo. I quite like the first one. I think the vertical composition is a little stronger. As for the subject, the lighting is just beautiful, and I enjoy the way the water creates a very soft mirror of the land and sky above. Furthermore, this is one of those images that illustrates how to break the traditional landscape rules. The main subject is bang in the middle, but the overall composition pulls it off.

In short, it's a very successful photo on all accounts.

Oooo..that one's great. I guess it's just me, but I really like the second over the first. Like I said before, fantastic lighting and colors.

I've been reading about filters, do ND filters make a big difference in long exposure?

I like them both but the 2nd is nicer to look at on a computer screen. Printed up I'm not sure which I would prefer. Both lovely, especially the colours and the smoothness which is broken up nicely by the tree line

They simply add a few f-stops so you can hold the shutter open longer.
This was an ND8 (0.9) which is about 3 f-stops of light, I'm considering some higher ones so I can use them in even brighter light.

As for the lens, it was actually the kit lens at 18mm
