Possible POTM Entry
The other day i took this shot from my balcony. Unfortunately my building blocks the sun so i am only getting the reflected light off the clouds. But here it is.
![]() Post processing done was some tweaks to the saturation and obviously cropping all done in paint.net. Exif Data Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT Shutter Speed: 1/200 Sec Lens Aperture: F/8 Focal Length: 68mm ISO Speed: ISO-100

Beautiful picture!
Not quite sure i I like the houses in the front, though. Maybe you cold cut them away, or simply paint them black? (Just a suggestion. I have no idea what I'm talking about )

hrmm ... better.
i would have left like 10% more at the bottom and gradient to black ... would have given it a more substantial base and left another layer of treetops ...

How about trying out the gimp or some other free image editor?
Anywho: Nice picture. Much prefer it uncropped as I think the foreground matters a lot in the composition. Perhaps you could lighten the foreground a bit or otherwise try the dark gradient as mentioned but having the dark to weigh in the bottom is crucial for composition imho.

Can you burn/dodge in paint.net?
If so you could burn in the building and a bit of the snow and get something like this (hope you dont mind):

I really like the first and the last ones.
![]() The third one have a nice effect with the sun, but I'm unsure if I like it or not.

oooooo
can i get a copy of the last one @ 2560x1024? need a new wallpaper for work ![]() as for the original - like the saturation on the sky, however i think you might have over-done the foreground a bit ... i was thinking a bit more along the lines of Ben's take on it. you need the sky AND the foreground to be interesting to create the dramatic contrast.
