Cooler Master to make cases "interesting" again
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/04...esting_again/1
Cooler Master didn't have much to show us out in Taipei, but it's working on a project that looks to give case design a new edge.

Hey Tim, I like the red Lian LI too. But the fact that my own case lies in pieces atm, i'm interested in watching new developement.

As long as there is no door in it, and not a 'over the top design' it will probably be ok I hope...
It is a new never before seen design with awesome features and it will be fantastic, but you can't see it or write about it and we will not say anything else about it.

I'm just wanting a good case that doesn't cost £150+.
tbh it's quite ridiculous the amounts they ask for these cases |

totally agree wholst the cost of components has gone down the price for a case has risen sharply but at the same time the demand for case design has increased.
having said that there are quite a few gargains out there

The problem I guess with making things "interesting" is that to be that, they will have to have more features and silly bits on or just be generally controversial and controversial isn't that good a business model and I dont mean GTA controversial, more Marmite controversial.
Of course they could just get the same kind of case as most others are offering for less than the others, personally I find that a better proposition than making something thats going to be a bit daft. A case is to hold computer parts, a cardboard box will hold computer parts. My 10 year old A-Open case holds computer parts, and funnily enough didn't cost much. Sure its only got 3 or each bay type and no watercooling holes or flappy doors but I don't have 6 drives, water cooling or want to add another step to putting a disk in and I think a large portion of us are in the same boat (I know some will have an optical, a fan controller and 4 drives, watercooled everythings and cant bare to look at their DVD drive bay, there's always some )

I love the Cosmos' 'feet'. It means I can now drag the case effortlessly in and out of it's carpet-floored cubbyhole. The only other case of note at the moment is the Lian Li V-series. I can't see how the internals could be changed - the motherboard has got to be in a certain place so that any expansion cards poke out of the back so you can plug the leads in. Hard drives and optical drives have got to be mounted either vertically or horizontally, so I can't see anything wildly different happening to the front of a case anytime soon.
I wonder what they're coming up with? Very intriguing indeed!

Why can't we just have the original wavemaster back but with 120mm fans?
All the colours etc. and the removable mobo tray. That would be the perfect case! |

I also like my Antec P180, though it is a bit on the tight side in there.
Coolance internal watercooling, 2 x GTX's and 5 HDD's XFi Fatality edition and a Zalman Coolpipe 800 Power Supply. I had too remove the centre fan to fit the power supply. On the outside it looks peacefull and fast on the inside it looks like an ants nest. |

What's the betting that there will be something other than a tower or a shuttle-like design? Any takers? Anyone?

That's actually what the Lian Li PC-7010 does (to a large extent) all the panels are removable to take it straight down to a bare chassis.
