Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...ing_keyboard/1
The Razer Lycosa is the latest board from Razer and it looks to be a corker. With a slim design and oh-so-pleasing keys, you'd be forgiven if you forgot the touch-sensitive media keys and adjustable backlight. Let's see how it fares in our hands though...

Our photography stuff for the office *just* turned up, so we'll drop them in in a few mins
![]() EDIT: Didn't matter in the end - the keys are so dim we had to do it on a desk instead. |

Great review Joe, I absolutely love the look of the Lycosa. Gets my vote for the best looking keyboard of all time.
Budget permitting, I might have to grab one of these at some point. Quote:

Not sure about the point of the gaming mode. You fingers are on the WASD so you wouldn't see the lights anyway... and if you have to look at the keys first before pressing them... well, then you probably aren't doing well in the game anyway.
Or am I missing something? |

How would you go about giving the keyboard a good clean, I mean how are the keys mounted? Do they pop off and on easily or are the like my current laptop style keyboard (logitech ultra-x) and take an hour to get a single key back on because of the X type mounting.

anyway, looks like a good keyboard and should take up far less space than the G15.

I wouldn't suggest taking the keys off at all. I'd say wash your hands and don't eat at the PC if you're that bothered, giving the keys a wipe down occasionally.

Are the keys laptop-style or classic ?
What's the max number of simultaneous key presses? And a close up of the media buttons would be nice, as touch sensitive is sexeh ! Interesting keyboard, expensive though.

It would have been a nice touch if you could illuminate any keys of your choosing while in game-mode. Now the mode seems like a pointless marketing gimmick.

+1.
Thought of grabbing one and seeing if it's possible to switch them out, but I just don't know...

Even though I find the media area to be useless (annoying even) I like my Lycosa - though it is a huge grime magnet (And green would be my colour of choice). The only thing that really disappointed me was that the macros & key remapping work in software and my game of choice ignores software remapping
![]() From what I can figure it's a straight pass through - basically just an extension cable. Good: - looks slick - keys feel real nice - quiet - good size - Did I mention that it just feels real nice to use? Bad: - gets dirty fast - media keys useless (Really annoying when I brush them by accident and the media player pops up) - remapping in software only - weak backlight, keys only really clear from above

I got mine on Sunday and I think the review is pretty much spot on.
I thought the touch-panel media keys was a bit of a gimmick but it's great to be able to tap through a winamp playlist on shuffle at top speed. Regarding getting dirty, my keys have been pretty good, but the black plastic really shows dust, I keep a duster handy. The comment about worrying if it would match the rest of your desktop made me laugh. Although I hadn't planned it, my Lycosa, Deathadder, Samsung 206BW and black Creative speaks look like they were designed as one. One minor criticism that I dont think was mention is the keyboard sits very flat, even when you pop the little feet out. The keys don't have much travel in them, I think it would be more comfortable if you could angle the keyboard more. This probably isn't true for everyone though.

And you can remove the wrist-rest, you just need to unscrew it.
