How To Start Your Own Games Studio, Pt 2
http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/..._studio_pt_2/1
Introversion's Mark Morris is at the microphone again, sounding off about how to start up your own development studio. Last time he covered the basics of forming an idea and developing it. Now, it's all about building the prototype of your game and what to do with it...

its all very well saying to build a prototype but once you have an idea how do you even start to program it??

By learning a programming or scripting language, or at least building a workable mod on another engine. Asking someone to cover the basics of that though is a little intimidating and will require serious effort. Mark's articles assume that you've already got a basis in coding or at least seriously looking at developing one.

With all due respect, and i mean that, this article is so obvious, that it doesnt need to be written. Let me condense the entire article into a single sentence : "start with a plan, implement it, and make sure it works."

Great article. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I mentioned this article on my blog too, in a listing I have made of articles about starting up a game studio. http://ronin.kybernesis.com/index.ph...wn-game-studio |
