AMD promises completely different CPU architecture

AMD's Technical Director of Sales and Marketing has said that the company's next-gen CPU architecture will be "completely different" from Phenom.

Aren't the phenoms supposed to have a whole new architecture, we can see how far that got them.

I say keep it simple and get us something that works on the market.

About time really there current core/cores is still using old XP and early tech. Intel remade there's it about AMD did the same. I want to proud to be a AMD Fanboy again.

The execution core of the Phenom is still HEAVILY based on the execution core first debuted with K7.

I certainly hope so. AMD pulled off quite the upset with its Athlon CPUs - I think we all hope they do it again. Then again - it's not like Intel doesn't have a whole lot of new things in the works either - and many more hats to pull rabbits out of.

I get the feeling that K10 was a buffed up K8, anyway; no major redesign.

AMD made it clear from the beginning that Phenom was "evolutionary, not revolutionary"; which leads you to believe that the architecture was based mostly off of existing products.
