Alan Wake delayed until 2009

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/05...d-until-2009/1

Alan Wake has apparently slipped back once more according to reports from a Microsoft even in San Fran. The game is now set for a 2009 release.

Alan Wake looked quite beautiful back in the day... but by 2009 might start to look a little dated.

Maybe it'll be exclusive to Microsoft's new console?

Paradigm Shifter will become famous soon enough
I think Alan Wake is a title that will be joining Duke Nukem Forever in the "I'll believe it's released when I hold a copy in my hands" category...

It's already starting to look dated really, one of the biggest reasons for that is Crysis, wether you like the game or not.

looks like this is/was a gfx engine in search of a game.

Yeah it looked hugely impressive a couple of years ago, now not so much... and next year? I'm a bit disapointed, I remember watching a video of it sweeping over a portion of the game world advertising dx10, reading a preview and being so excited. I'm guessing it'll look as good as every other 360 game and only PC users will be disapointed.

Doesn't surprise me, but doesn't worry me either. Remember that Max Payne was about 3 years behind schedule when it was finally released, and it turned out not only to be beautiful (and totally cutting edge), but play awesomely as well. Just because it's delayed doesn't mean it'll look dated and won't play well.

It sucks it's delayed, but I'd rather them make sure it's polished and retail-ready before dumping it on all of us. I'm looking forward to it. The look and info on the game kind of reminds me how Silent Hill felt at first when you're in town. Anyone else?

I have to agree with most people here and say that by 2009 I can't see this being so impressive. What exactly is the plot line to this game? It seems to me to be a gfx/physics engine more than anything ;[

Much better they hold off till they think its ready. If crysis is anything to go by especially, there may also be a case for keeping in something in development longer untill the market is ready for it too.

they'll probably update the engine, just like every other delayed game.
