Haze not in HD, needs 4GB install

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/05...-4gb-install/1

Derek Littlewood of Free Radical Design has revealed that Haze will not run in true HD on the PS3 and requires a meaty install.

More likely sign of people not caring as long as the game runs smooth and doesn't look like crap. As evidenced by the sales numbers of COD4 or Halo 3...

The goal of smoothness is admirable but surely the ps3 has enough grunt for this, its not that pretty. I'd be more inclined to believe rushed coding or poor optimisations than hardware issues.

Thats a compliment console types

I'd like to agree with steveo_mcg - there's plenty of evidence that the PS3 can handle chucking lots of groovy looking stuff about in HD. I'd say the same for GTA4, too.

Get real, if they could get it running at higher res and smooth they would, it just shows the next gen consoles haven't been next gen in awhile.

Meh, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 5whateverp and 720p, especially when upscaled, the main thing about HD is the fact it's p and not i, makes a huge difference seeing the whole picture instead of half.

Good to see them making use of the hard drive too, I wish games on the 360 would allow an install option to make the game run quicker and smoother.

PS3 is an absolute cow to code for - as, frankly, is any multicore system.

However, compare Playstation 1 games at launch to the final games released for the platform. Techniques do evolve. I suspect it may take longer for PS3 techniques to get to the point where they're really squeezing all the juice out of it.

I thought Haze was supposed to be pretty sub-par, so why does anyone care?

Hey, as long as it gets resonable reviews I'll still buy it, I usually set myself a target of about 70 - 80% as minimum before I'll part with my cash. Anything lower will need to be either in the bargin bin or second hand before I'll buy it.

That's not just pathetic, that's good ole "standard" definition PAL...

"It's not running at true HD!" No, "pal", it's not anywhere near. Be interesting to compare this game's visuals to Black on the original Xbox.

Why is there no mention in the news post that this is standard definition? The Wii is beaten up about it's standard defness all the time....
