Pteroglider game released for free
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/05...sed-for-free/1
Pteroglider has been released for free by Codeminion, who only sold 32 copies of the game and describe it as a perfect example of what not to do.

They sound like they love their game!
Can't fault their honesty though. Might check it out when I get home. For the sake of it being free and all.

It's actually pretty good tbh. I'd be annoyed if I'd paid more than a couple of quid for it - nothing is explained. But I can't see how it's far too difficult... Maybe I'm just l33t?

I have just downloaded an played this and I can see why no one paid much for it.
And it is rather hard. And has no story/explanation. Rather fun for ~3 minutes but that is about it.

I love it, its has a classic old school shooter feel about it, instead of just waggling side to side to kill everything you move in a circle to not get hit and waggle your mouse everywhere to kill. Still haven't figured out why you health and shield bars flash randomly and only got to the end of stage 1 difficulty 2 before I got wiped out.

Mmmm old school shmups are the best. I got addicted to the japanese ones cause theyre so much harder and more rewarding. I swear the japanese games keep asking "are you american?" everytime I die.

I think I know why they came in on time and on budget thinking it would have mass appeal:
They never showed it to any testers. |

It's a arcade shoot-em up genre involving space ships. Like Tyrian. They are also known as bullet avoidance games.

I love shmup games, Ikaruga on the DC is my favorite.
It's not 'bad' per say, I wouldn't pay money for it, unless it was only a couple quid for a download.
