Haze writer responds to 4.5 IGN review

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/05...5-ign-review/1

Haze writer Rob Yescombe has responded to poor initial reviews of the game from IGN, pointing instead to good reviews from Famitsu.

If the rest of the industry press reckon that you made an average game that runs a 576p in a console that you should be running the game at 720p then just take it, or go away and make a better game.

That's quite funny. Why are there such high hopes for this game anyway? So another mediocre FPS has come out?

Surely the more pressing issue is who gave Goldeneye 4/10?!

I would have given goldeneye 4/10. It was poor at best. Can't see what all the fuss was about.

720p at an absolute minimum. Preferably 1080p tbh. I'm sure the PS3 is capable of that if properly and efficiently coded for.

Agreed. At the time I was used to playing FPS games on the PC, and Goldeneye just seemed so clunky and slooooooooooooow.

Never looked good I'm afraid, so doesn't surprise me one jot that it's struggling against poor reviews.

I think it'll be one of those games where you either love it or think it's totally "meh"-FPS action. It sounds awesome to me, even with the res-drop.

He should be wary of bragging about his PSM review... since the magazine exists solely to sell PS games.

The news of that huge patch to get it to go HD is pathetic but if golden eye got such a crappy score (I thought it was outstanding) then maybe Haze will be just as good?!

I don't have a PS3 so care very little, but the people saying 'properly and efficiently coded for' need to get a reality check. Games programming, programming in general in fact, is a incredibly specialist skill at the highest levels - I'm sure there are some very intellegent people behind this game who tried as hard as possible. The simple fact is - the PS3 is insanely difficult to build software for, Sony are not a gaming company and they are not a software company, they simply (from what I've heard) don't provide the required level of support and tools. I'm not a fan boy, but when a company that is producing games at this level can't 'efficiently and properly code', I think you need to take a step back, spin round, and point your finger directly at Sony. I'm not going to cover the 360, because Microsoft is a software company - so they know how to do it, and have been doing it for years, and Nintendo gets brushed with a similar, but smaller brush.

720p is just pure nonesence anyway.

could your average person tell the diffrence ? between 576 and 720. Have my douts. Ive ran games sideby side on hd and none hd tvs. Diffrence isnt that great tbh. Never buy games based on graphics either. only game that says its 1080p is gt5 prologue wether it is or not is kinda imposible to tell.

blue ray remember is mainly better sound and that is all native 1080p stuff.

And unless you game on some 50inch+ tv you will never know the dif (1080p only really makes diffrence at huge screen sizes not something you will fit in most bedrooms) . Most people who game own 26inch tvs at best.

720 is basically already overkill at that size. Diffrences between it and standard tv are close to 0

isnt halo 3 like 576 also btw?

If game runs smoothly and is fun to play i dout anyone will care either way

you notice the dif on pcs cause your sitting so close to it. Most people sit at least 6 - 12 foot away from there screens. And theres no way on earth you can tell me you can see the diffrence at that range. (any closer and u would be going blind lol)
