Pub Quiz Ammo

Okay -

Taking inspiration from other forums / websites (but then applying the sheer brilliance of the average Bit-Tech reader) - Tell us something that we likely didn't know already.

Things like crazy little facts, interesting tidbits, or your favourite random trivia.

For example, things like:

The Empire Strikes Back was named "Blue Harvest" during production to stop companies overcharging Lucasfilm based on the success of A New Hope.

It is still a hanging offence in the UK to cause significant damage (to a level of inoperability) to the royal docks of the UK.

and my personal favourite:

If you take a human small intestine, stretch it out on a flat surface, and measure it with a ruler; it won't work any more.

Your turn! A free pint to the best response.
(Postage and Packing may apply)

WTF!!
our local pub quiz is always completely beyond us. Our team consists of people who know lots about all the wrong kinds of things. We may be able to tell you what a bourne is, tell you the molecular formula of some chemical, work out the escape velocity from the moon or whatever but can we answer who play the bartender in a random soap? Oh no.
The picture round is always rather amusing!
The only chance we have is on St George's day when one of our team sets the questions (obviously he doesn't then take part!)

haha! i like!

erm, highly practical bit:

rub a sachet of salt or two on a wet mosquito bite to neutralise the bite and stop itching pretty much instantly.

from fight club: you can use your pets as fertiliser.

A man will ejaculate approximately 18 quarts of semen, containing half a trillion sperm, in his lifetime.

Okay, here's two for all you Star Wars geeks out there:-

Which character from Star Wars: Ep 4, A New Hope is the only one to utter the line "May the Force be with you".

In all six Star Wars films C-3PO and Darth Vader only appear in one scene at the same time, name the film and for an extra special geek point name the scene.

Hmmm I know the first one is Han Solo towards the end, just as he leaves Luke, delivered in quite a downbeat way for such a cheesy line to his credit

Second, is it Empire, when Lando takes Han to Meet Vader whos at the table? I think he's on the back of Chewie, but I might be wrong about this

Technically speaking they're in the same scene in the Phantom Menace, because he built C3PO.

Nah, in Ep1 TPM he's not Darth Vader at that point he's still Annakin, it's from Empire and it's the Carbon Freezing scene when C3PO is strapped on Chewie's back in pieces. Its not the scene where Han, Chewie, Leia are lead into Vader's trap by Lando as they leave the dismembered C-3PO in their quarters.

Yes, the first answer is Han Solo just before the Rebel attack on the Death Star.

Here's another one, which Tim Burton film featured three actors who played Sith Lords in various Star Wars films? Can't tell you the year as you'll get it straight away.

i may be wrong but i thought that there was an act in the late 90s that officially got rid of the death penalty for all crimes, civilian and military?.

as partly mentioned before:
everest is the tallest mountain as measured from sea level,
mauna kea is the tallest measured from the mountains base,
chimborazo is the tallest measured from the centre of the earth.

True.

ALL capital crimes have been abolished for a good long while now, including the ones which are commonly wheeled out as still allowed.

The offspring of a female horse and a male donkey is a mule.
The offspring of a male horse and a female donkey is a hinny.
Both are sterile, with the exception of a very few females (approximately sixty known cases in the last 500 years, if Wikipedia is correct).

And while we're at it, a male mule is called a Jack, and a female mule is called a Jenny.
