another website said $600 USD. so with that spec, it's much cheaper than Asus EEE 901.

seems like it's no time to buy now...... wait for the war to heat right up, then grab a cheap deal :)

Yeah, like those ones you get at places like Blackpool or something.

Seriously, though, if it's priced right, I might buy one.

Quite pleased I won't be able to afford something like this for a month or so, hopefully by then the competition will have kicked in and the prices will be dropping :)

at the moment im looking at the ECS G10L and the eee 901, if the price is right i'll consider this aswell i suppose.

the only thing i know i defo want is SSD, decent size screen and linux.

just like everyone else though, i'll be waiting for the market to really open up

the eee is allready avalaible, msi, gigabyte hp and now also dell are working on their affordable subnotebooks, it could get interesting and finally I might find an affordable (and small) replacement for my old 12" ibook.

yep, this is one battle that's about to get interesting. i think dell will ship something pretty decent, but i'm surprised at the high-ish specs. something to run vista? 2 gb ram? is all that really needed to surf the net and type in word? I hope they have an ultra low cost version or i think they'll end up outpricing themselves

Actually, i think something like this owuld make a good companion for my high-end gaming machine... with the cost of 'leccy going through the roof atm, it makes sense to use a low power device when i just want to surf the web or watch the latest episode of Bleach... Although i think i will probably go for the recently announced EEE desktop (don't really need a portable, and not paying for the mini screen should either save money or get a better spec...)

Somehow that looks a lot more hard-wearing than the EEE, and as it's designed to be portable...
I'm still waiting until someone to make an idiot-proof pre-hacked OS X for one of them. Whichever has that available first gets my money.

Since when did Brian Lam work for Gizmondo?

Firehed, I agree - I want Atom, OSX and the HP 2133s chassis.

    1st things 1st i Hate dell
i would never buy on the first day (or Week) of release, as later in the "price wars" and you can get a far better deal

looks pretty nice tbh, time will tell of course.

Im planning to get one of these 9-10" jobs before my next course at uni starts in september so hopefully they will all be out by then, things might be quite close between all the competitors, hp2133 (hopefully the Isiah refresh will be out by then), Msi wind, dell jobby, and the ECS and Acer models look quite interesting too. They need to sort out better battery life on these things to make me buy one tho, rumours of 7 hours from the msi wind seem a bit too good to be true tho :(

Tho you can get an ibm/lenovo x60 tablet for under 600 quid these days so that might win out in the end :)

+1. A nine inch screen, SSD, and Linux are non-negotiable. I think I'll wait for the second revision of most of these products - should be better developed and lower priced, and I want to see if the Atom processors really live up to the hype. Plus as much as I want one, I really can't justify throwing $500 at it right now. I need to buy car insurance instead... Maybe in another year.
