Nvidia intros Tegra for MIDs and smartphones

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/06...-smartphones/1

COMPUTEX 2008: Nvidia has introduced the Tegra family of system-on-a-chip processors, which are aimed squarely at Intel's Centrino Atom platform.

There are videos of the device that the lade is holding on Youtube.

VERY impressive, if I do say so myself.

Also, one of these in an Eee PC would rock the current 630mhz celeron, or even the Atom, possibly.

Be interesting to see how well it functions when it hits the market, and how good of a third party support it'll get.

BOOOOOOOOTH BABES!!!

OK, now that I have that out of my system, how is this thing going to compete with the Atom in anything except media applications? It has half the clock speed and while I don't doubt that it does video well, what about everything else? It really sounds like a pretty niche product.

well what is a handheld device these days but a media device? show me one "serious business" application that need even more power than we already have today with current ARM cores. Most stuff is located online so things like a better browsing experience (more powerful graphics may help this a lot) is what is important.

Also the next round of portable gaming devices will use this most probably.
