Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW 21.6" LCD

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...n-widescreen/1

Samsung attacks the 22" LCD market from a different angle with its 21.6" SM2253LW, which sports the same 1,680 x 1,050 native resolution. Aside from the weird proportions, it boasts a 2ms response time and an 8,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio - but is it any good?

it looks nice but i'm not trading in for that as i still think my dell 20.1 can do the bizz with the best of them despite its age. My next trade up wlll probably be for a 30" Dell, but lets see what the market brings,

peace

and 0.4-inch shortfall in panel size
I was under the impression that all 22" panels were actually more like 21.6", its just Samsung being honest about it this time around

i'll take the LG L227WT monitor over this...... the stand is the same as the Pebble 22inch, which isn't really as stable as my current LG L226WTQ.

LG L227WT
-better stand
-better looking frame IMHO, but the best frame has to be the pebble.
-higher contrast ratio
-larger viewing angle
for only a few more quid over this Sammy monitor.

don't get me wrong, Sammy is good. but i personally prefer LG with monitors.

I have the LG L206WTY. Great monitor but the stand blows. The stand does not even allow for tilting the monitor. The screen is awesome though. i would like to be able to quickly turn the dynamic contrast off for browsing though. But fortemanager sucks pretty hard. the website says only 2.8 works for my monitor. I wonder if 3.05 will though.

UK Price (as reviewed): £205.00 (inc. VAT)
US Price (as reviewed): $269.99 (ex. Tax)

Oh right wonderful so basically 175% more expensive here.

I skipped to the conclusion to find out what was the point.

It seems you didn't find one either.

I'm considering a second 22" monitor but am undecided whether to get a price/performance master or another 226bw for the sake of homogeneity. But honestly, why Samsung? What is the unique selling point? Except that's it's marginally smaller than other monitors?

from a google picture, it looks like to be exactly same stand as my L226WTQ. it tilts no problem and rotates beautifully. (whereas Sammy don't do rotate, only scratching table surface)

for quick dynamic range adjustment, just press the - button, which also labelled f-Engine (you don't need anything installed)

agree with everything else though, fortemanager is useless and not needed
