MSI Wind: Most Affordable OSX Notebook Ever

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/06...otebook-ever/1

An enterprising hacker has already ported OSX 10.5.2 to MSI's new Wind sub-notebook making it the cheapest big cat PC you can buy.

Nice... But I think I'd rather have XP Home on there..

Although GarageBand is great on Macs.. And I wouldn't mind getting a Mac just for that.

i think for the sheer simplicity that mac offers, this is a good idea. not perfect, but if apple made a mac book light or something like that then they really could be on to a winner. none of this crappy "air" stuff.

If someone can get this going reliably, I'd spend the $400 without blinking. I'm sure it would have plenty of annoying limitations simply from a hardware perspective, but I'd kill for a little mobile code writing machine. However having used an OSx86 laptop for months in addition to my MBP, I still think it tends to be a bit too hackish.

Use GarageBand...

Srsly.. That program is awesome.. I've tried using Sony ACID as an alternative.. but it's just too complicated.

I got OSX86 running on a intel D945GCLF for my itunes media server and while it works, it's still not as good as buying an iMac or MBP to get the full experience... and updates that don't break it.

Pitty Apple can't see the massive gap in the market for a low cost desktop / mobile laptop that isn't as crap as the mac mini (Intel GMA ).

Not quite mac styling is it?

Stretchy resolution instantly put me off though.

Once they're released, I can't wait for the first one to have problems - that means someone will have broken Wind.

I'm very tempted to get an EEE 901 (or some small computer of that ilk) and drop a triple-boot of OS X/Linux/Windows XP, and then see which I use the most. I love my MBP, and it's ultra-fast for everything I love, but I wouldn't mind having a tiny computer to basically keep in a pocket at all times.

I would be very tempted to run in on Linux Ubuntu, as it is more of a "note taking" laptop.
