Battlefield: Bad Company

http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/...-bad-company/1

It's a dramatic change for the Battlefield series, but Bad Company has landed on consoles. Can the renewed focus on singleplayer story telling and destructible environments make this the latest and greatest installment in the series, or is going to suffer death by consolification?

~"quicker than our mobo specialist when an ice cream truck goes by"....loved that comment or as close to that as i can remember. I am stilll disappointed in ea, where does the next bf pc game come along as 2142 and bf2 have been around too long, we need something visually inspiring once more on the pc....

peace

There is Battlefield Heroes. I know, I know, it looks cartoony and casual and is certainly doesn't offer the same in-depth tactical experience...but trust me, it's damn good fun. Actually one of the games I'm most looking forward to atm.

Feel free to call me crazy for this, but: I prefer playing Bad Company online to CoD 4. More casual, more fun. And, which helps alot, I appear to be not rubbish.

I thought the Demo was pretty good.. I noticed the limits of the destructible cover.. but you're too busy blasting the crap out of everything with the over-equipped grenade launcher to care.

UGH! I don't know which is worse... the game or that Bit-Tech liked it. I'm not criticising the review... I just hoped you'd tear into it!!

Call me crazy but I hated CoD4 (which EA are obviously trying to emulate), so the thought yet another arcadey shooter doesn't engage me at all.

I sincerely hope DICE wont let PROPER Battlefield die off.

How about the humor ? It's supposed to be funny in a dark way, there is no mention of it in the article.
L4D is the next big multiplayer for me.

Personally I thought COD4 was trying to emulate BF2 a bit. I enjoyed the multiplayer in the demo, not sure if i'll buy it though. They need to hurry up and release the next BF PC installment. I want BF2 with better graphics destructable environments and in MMOFPS form like Planetside (no monthly fees though).

The single player is horribly short and unsatisfying I was holding out on the multiplayer being good but by the sounds of it I shouldn't hold my breathe!

I know is a console shooter but shouldn't this review dedicate a little more time to the graphics? I heard somewhere that a modified version of the Frostbite engine was supposed to be utilized for the next REAL battlefield PC game (for me Heroes is just BS) so it will be nice to read about it

Ive just rented this game for 7 days from Blockbuster on the PS3. Its not bad, but its not amazing either. Putting it bluntly... its no COD 4 killer. And the controls... hmmm... so easy to create that magic pulp fiction moment of spray bullets/hit nothing. But we have the console controls mixed with FPS gaming to thank for that.

All I want though is BF3 for the PC (none of this bf heroes rubbish).

Ahhh...funny you should be reviewing this game Joe...this is the game my friend composed the score for.

So if music is your thing...his name is Mikael Karlsson and he has a myspace
His company is called PleaseMusicWorks

IGN has a feature the music in Bad Company here.
Music4games has an article by him about the score here.
WNYC's John Schaefer interviewed him on Soundcheck on June 24. You can make fun of his accent here.
