Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...tact-freezer/1

We take a look at the latest contact heatsink from Sunbeamtech, the Core-Contact Freezer. Can this innovative approach to heatsink design make the Core-Contact a cool customer? Or will it be another case of a good idea poorly executed? We find out!

Its a bummer about the AM2 thing, I was considering getting hold of one of these almost as soon as I read its description.

yep, it's pretty much a killing blow for what otherwise would have been a very good heatsink for the money. It's still worth a pop if you're running LGA775 and don't want to spend crazy money on air cooling.

I wish BT took a more considered approach to the noise issue. We don't want to compete with SPCR, but noise is a significant issue to most people.

It would be useful if an approximate noise rating (out of 10) was given for each tested unit under comparison, including ratings for full-power and under-volted modes. Just a subjective rating - no special lab conditions required.

I've just bought a Thermalright HR-01 Plus for my C2Q machine (see sig) with a Noctua fan, so that I can be cool *and* quiet, so this HSF wouldn't be for me.

Nice idea with scoring it for noise at high low etc. We have most previously reviewed kit still on hand, so it should be easy to compare - we'll discuss it soon.

Fixed.

Shame about the AMD mounting.

Dear Bit-tech,

Would you please include the intel stock fan preformance in your chart/graph that I may judge with a further curved brow? If not I throw soup at your office. Thank you.

And with almost two years advancing of technology they still cant beat the good old T120EX. It makes you wonder whats more impressive; 1) That the T120EX is still the undefeated king of air cooling. 2) They still cant come up with something better then the T120EX.
