First a little introduction :

(This introduction relates more to OCN. I am relatively new to bit-tech )

Why Name it The Clone ? : I have been on OCN for about 8 months now. OCN has given me a hobby that I really like and Liquid Chameleon was the mod that made this day possible.

Liquid Chameleon was the first ever case mod I saw . LC is what brought me to OCN. I wanted something that always reminds me of that first day and how this community helped me find a hobby. The only way of doing this was building something that took LC as an inspiration.

Whats so special about this mod ? : This mod will be focused on quality. I am going to keep the edges as straight as possible. Panels will be rounded and polished as perfectly as I can.

What makes the whole mod difficult is that I dont have any hardware yet, The whole mod is going to be done without hardware. I am just going with whatever measurements I can find about probable components I may use.
The hardware will be added when the mod is complete. This will allow me to get the best in my budget at that time.
There are a lot of things that I will be doing for the first time in this mod. eg. Watercooling.

What Do you plan to do for this mod ? : I have several things planned out for this mod . Let me list some of the important ones.
The theme for the mod is going to be red and black.

1. Replace the side window with Solar Gray Acrylic.

2. Replace both bottom meshes with Acrylic.

3. The front of the case will be replaced with acrylic.

4. This case will have 2 independent loops. One with a GTX 360 to cool the CPU.
and one with a GTX 240 for the Graphics.

5. The case will be painted black. With the same holographic flakes that marcus used for ultranova.

6. A NEST for the Raptor. (Dont ask me what this is ... its a surprise )

7. Custom Acrylic Mounts for the Rads and Pumps.

8. Wire Management and other small Mods.

I did some mockups for the rad and drive placement. So you guys will have a fair idea of where this is going.

The 360 will be placed at the bottom:

The Pumps will go at the bottom too.
The other stock fans that come with the TJ-07 will also be placed alongsidethe pumps. They will act as exhaust.

With everything placed in the bottom section. There is just enough space for the Corsair HX-1000.

The GTX 240 will go into the front.

With the GTX in there is just enough space for the raptors nest

The front of the case will be replaced with Acrylic. The acrylic will be bent and will cover a part of the top. The raptor will be placed at the very top. So we should be able to see the raptor in action through the top of the case.

Questions/ Comments/ Suggestions Welcome

I also did a little work on the acrylic for the Top Mesh.

This is the general theme for the mod. So you should expect to see something on the lines of this. The panels have just been cut sanding and polishing have to be done.

Acrylic for the top Panel cut.

A fan grill

Put both together

And this is how it should look when its placed on the top.

I am still debating whether the grill should stay above the panel or below the panel.

I took some pictures with the grill below the panel. I am banking on you guys for inputs.

Thanks for looking

I re - did the fan grill. Now it has 8 holes instead of 6. I like this better because the grill looks more symmetric now and also allows for more air flow.

The old grill on the left. The new one on the right

A close up of the new grill.

I also bent the acrylic that will replace the front.
Bending acrylic is not my forte. I have tried it in the past and failed miserably. I spent most of last night reading up on it. Today I crossed my fingers and started on bending the acrylic.

The idea was to let the acrylic bend on its own rather than having to bend it forcefully. So what I did was tape a small weight to the end of the acrylic . I used the heat gun to heat the acrylic at the bend and in about 15 mins ... Voila !!!

A couple of pictures of the piece cooling down..

Thats it for today guys..

Next on the agenda is to draw up and cut the rest of the pieces for the side window and grill. and cut the case itself

Thanks for looking

Thanks Ace, Yes The 6 hole grill was something I carried over from Azure. They look better when you have a really small grill. For a full sized fan grill the 8 hole variety looks a lot better.

Thanks BlueFan, Yes the grills have to be sanded. It will be 80 Grit to straighten the edges, Wet sanding with 240 , 600, then a lot of buffing with a polishing compound

brinkx0r the outer holes were cut using a 1" holesaw. and the inner ones with a step drill bit.

Are you looking at the fan grill with 6 holes ?? If yes it is not going to be used anymore
.

EDIT : I took a closer look at the plexi. It is indeed chipped at places. Looks like a dremel and with a sanding drum will have to be used first.
