No netbook chips due from AMD

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/07...ips-from-amd/1

AMD's chief marketing officer has quashed rumours that the company is due to launch an ultra-low-voltage chip for 'netbook' devices aimed at competing with Intel's Atom processor line.

his repsonse is fair enough really, they are failing to compete with intel on the mass market processor front so why put resources into a growing market that wont see such fruitful returns as the one they want to focus on, no real surprise there for me.

peace

AMD has the XPG technology now. Why they need low power CPU?
How we will play Crysis 2 on external connected 48xx system, having something asthmatic like the Atom?

I think it's probably the right decision at the minute, they need to concentrate on the main desktop market and clawing back a bigger share of it.

they have decided to fight two fights rather than kinda stand up to 50 fights... I think its a great idea, they cant beat intel but maybe they could get a low blow in with a desktop cpu.... lets hope right
