http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/07...ame-revealed/1
We all kind of guessed it was coming, but Gary Oldman has now confirmed that there is a game adaptation of The Dark Knight due out soon.

The trouble with games based on movies is that the movie (characters, plot et al) was designed to be shown on a cinema screen, whereas a computer game will be designed from the beginning to be played and interacted with. A good game adaptation of a movie is a very rare thing imo.

it's going to suck.. a lot.... doesnt matter how good the film is, never seems to work as a game.. and the older batman games only worked because people expected games to be short and linear.

In any case, I don't think the characters being made for screen (or page) can really affect a game, as long as the potential is there I can't see why a good game shouldn't still be made. They just need a good story/script/gameplay! |

maybe it will be good, since they aren't rushed to coincide the movie release, which is usually why licensed games stink.
but more often than not, licensed games are just cheap imitations of other games with the movie characters instead. |

let's see - thief mechanic with darkness along with added 'theatricality' meter for affecting the mentality of your opponents, making them more susceptible to attacks yet more likely to over-react in certain ways.
please do that, kthxbai.

WallE's game was pretty good, so is KungFu Panda.
as long as this game is trying to be FUN instead of some sort of serious game (remember Matrix? )

There have been some decent enough films to games, certainly more so than film to games.
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth (which was based on the films, before you say anything) say really quite good! And all those games based on Uwe Boll's movies have been pretty good...

Thief meets GTA4 might be a good start for a game for this.
I fully expect a pile of steaming turd though tbh.

I saw the movie Sunday and I highly recommend it. I think it's the best movie of the Batman franchise thus far. Heath Ledger did a terrific job as the Joker. It's extremely unfortunate that he isn't around to see the success of his work.
If a game is created that doesn't suck it would be cool to play as the Joker rather than Batman. Spreading chaos throughout Gotham would be fun.
