My concern is that crazy 'cinematic kill cam' crap that's been mentioned around the tubes - Can you turn it off/stop it being used?

My fear that this game would suck have been.. Slightly curbed. Hopefully the final release is just as up to scratch, so to speak.

You can't turn it off or skip it - but it only last 2 seconds and is completely optional if you want to do just do the quick, fire and forget stuff.

I don't think I could handle having to watch it every time something died, because I do a lot of in-game murdering (As proven by my MGS4 excursion. 160 kills in the first chapter), and frankly, that'd drive me insane.

I assume that you can do the fire, forget, and then a bit of looting?

It's not everytime something dies. It's everytime you use the VATS turn-based mode. If you want to play it in just normal FPS way then you'll never even see it.

the spectre of world leveling, even in a reduced format turns me off. You're right, it completely broke oblivion the first time round and dumbs the game down. i tried oblivion again just the other day and gave it about three hours before it was boring again. I want areas that are too hard at first and become accessible as your skills improve so there's always places to go that you couldn't do before because you sucked too much. it adds to replayability too because if you come back and you're better at the game you can play harder areas sooner get better stuff and progress quicker whilst always having a challenge. satisfaction from gaming for me comes from me getting better at it and developing l337 skills, not having my hand held to make sure it doesn't get too difficult.

Funny you should say that - my mate was dumped many years ago because he played Fallout 2 non-stop for about 2 weeks and neglected his girlfriend. You have been warned!!

Sucks to be him!

Also, I'm prepared. I don't have a social life to destroy

When I first discovered Morrowind I was in second year of Uni. Everyone in the flat had gone home for the weekend and when they came back they found me, freezing cold in my basement bedroom playing the game with three blankets and a towel wrapped around me, breath steaming in the air and horrible bits of food lying around me. I didn't know how to do the heating and was too involved in the game to cook. I ate one serving of cold pasta with a dollop of mayo in the whole weekend and did not stop playing except to sleep. No showering or anything.

Sounds good. Are the NPC's in the game going to be as friendly as they were in oblivion or as in fallout (a lot of hating people in that game)? And how is the game dialog sounding is it similar to ether games or is it new in it's own right?

Great preview, I can see my social life being destroyed by this game.

You had it easy, you had cold pasta to eat and were smart enough to sleep
