First Look: AMD 790GX IGP and SB750

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...gp-and-sb750/1

We've got the low down on exactly what AMD's new "performance-leading" integrated graphics northbridge offers, in addition to its latest southbridge which is apparently primed for some super-overclocking. Has the AMD platform finally come good again?

106,5 C how long did it sit at that temp before you noticed and hit the big red STOP button to prevent it from a meltdown (was is the smell of frying chips that gave it away?)

i want one...

seriously tho, all this talk of Nvidia scrappping their mobo division, how long before the NF200 chip ends up on boards like this so SLI can be done on anything like crossfire can?

I want the SLI option, despite deliberately not buying SLI for my current machine, i feel the upgrade of a second 8800GT is the cost effective option i need, which means a new MOBO. So where to go?

If they release SLI licence for this, then hands down, i'm sticking with AMD (have never bought an Intel chip).

having said that, the 4870 looks good, if only Radeon cards didnt look so goddarn fisher price compared to Nvidia ones.

well, its not an AMD board, but apparently some Intel X58 boards will have the NF200 chip

any hint on when "very soon" is? between the 790FX/SB750 combo and the Phenom die shrink i'm really tempted to hold off on my (well overdue) upgrade

Sounds promising... I knew AMD would be back eventually; this looks like they are on the right path.

Any idea of when will I be able to sink my teeth into a board from ASUS?

AMD's chipset division has always been an under-dog of sorts.. but they've consistently delivered good quality products, maybe not the fastest, but lots of good experience, no compatibility issues and their mATX mobo's are great for HTPC's and single CPU server solutions where space is an issue. My choice of chipsets has lately been Intel > AMD > nVidia. Though with Hybrid-CrossFire, as an HTPC solution I'd take AMD over Intel.

I've been waiting for these new boards for over a month now. Where are they?
