Best 3rd Party Air 8800GTX Cooler?
I seem to have high temparatures on my 2 8800GTX's, i get crashes when trying to run COD4 and System Lockups when i try playing other games too (UT3, Crysis, Gears of War).
What should my temparatures be for idle and load? il post what they are when i get home, but im sure they are a bit high (i use nvtemp i think it is, and the temps are in the red section of the monitor ![]() anyways iv been looking at 3rd party coolers, as iv read online that the standard ones are crap. Im not looking to watercool, just a better heatsink n fan cooler would do. The best iv seen so far is http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2887.html Does anyone have any similar experiences or suggestions for me? BTW my cards are XFX 8800GTX XXX Editions (in sli) with a physx card in between. Cheers

8800GTX with stock cooler should fetch around 60 idle, 80 load. but since it's 2 cards, my guess is 65 idel, 90 load should be what we are looking at.
the BEST heatsink is Thermalright HR-03-PLUS . but you'd be having problem fitting a fan to it. so make sure you have goot airflow.

Arctic Cooling's Accelero Xtreme 8800 has been getting some praise lately too. I have one, I just haven't installed it yet on my 8800GTS G80. You may have issues getting two of them fit in SLi with the Physx card though.

I think the HR-03 [or one of its variants] would be your best choice, mostly because of the PhysX card you've got in between - most other coolers won't fit, since they often take up more slots than the stock cooler, but the HR-03 can be mounted so that the fin stack is facing away from the PhysX card so it won't interfere.

If you've got the room for it... Arctic Cooling's Accelero Twin Turbo is available for just a little over £20
![]() You'd need to double-check it's suitability for the 8800GTX though, since it's not among the cards mentioned on the website? If it's not... and you have room for it, then the one above would be the one to go for
