The iPhone 3G has outsold its 2G predecessor in just seven weeks - and Foxconn is ramping up prodution to meet ever-growing demand for the device.

good marketing and shiny things. It's improved over the old iPhone but still not very good overall.. jack of all trades, master of none etc.

I would have thought that the biggest factor is that the iPhone 3G is available worldwide, whereas the original was available in only a few countries.

2G is still a fantastic phone, just the orginal price is unacceptable.

Yeah right - O2 had like 5 3G's set aside for 2G people .. still nothing online - carephone warehouse have been selling loads new afaik... would love the GPS but can't be bothered talking to some O2 peon

you could have counted me in that, except the fact that the iphone is tethered to a carrier, that *must* charge a monthly fee turns me right off.

apparently apple gets a cut of those monthly contracts. kind of disgusting.

its just a freakin' phone.
