Today we look at the "Blue Aurora," the new high performance aftermarket heatsink from Akasa. With an exclusively LGA 775 mount and an included 120mm blue LED fan, can the Aurora light up our skies, or will it leave them overcast? Read on to find out!

I was going to get the noctua_NH-U12 but this looks sweet though I'd prefer a black fan with no glowy bits

Very nice review... it's been awhile since you folks recommended a cooler over the Thermalright of Noctua so Akasa is definitely on the right track. For those who want a quieter system, they can always pickup Noctua fans and mount them on the Akasa if the Noctua is too expensive (it's not that expensive here in Canada, and can be found on sale for around ~$35-$40).

But is it worth almost twice the cost of a 965?

Not sure if Im missing it or not but what is the rated noise on this fan? I can only assume "loud" is about the right amount due to the CFM and the high ish rotational speed.

Although noise ratings do tend to be subjective - different manufacturer's testing setups and equipment etc.

At full speed it was just about audible over the test rig's fans, but not intrusively so. Obviously with the PWM connector, you'll probably be running a little quieter and you can always easily drop a lower noise fan into the fan bracket.

This is probably one of the first coolers that is easy to fit.

I am also wondering , since the Thermalright U120E is ages old already, did Thermalright made any new cooler solutions that is outperforming their own 120E. For example the True Black 120. Any review in the works for that one?

The heatpipes must be staggered like the Coolermaster Hyper 212 ,to spread better the heat,not in a row one after the next
