Google & Valve fusion prediction:

"Goolve search: Hit link with crowbar"
"Goolve maps: Walk through your own city in full texture mapped 3D environment and kill head crabs and combines on the way!"

"Goolve portal: "Inquirer 2021: Goolve announced it will place portals all over the world. Making planes and other native transport systems obsolete"

I think Google will do well with it, they've only made youtube better, and with audio indexing for videos, they've taken it much further than the founders could have.

End of Days. It wouldn't be quite so bad if it weren't a company that currently has absolutely nothing to do with gaming in any way.

Heck, if Valve/Google was true, why wouldn't Take Two go out and sell themselves to, let's just say Symantec? That makes about as much sense.

am I the only one who thinks that perhaps companies give false info to some of their employees to see if they will leak this info? it could be a good way to see which are the weakest links in your pr departments or something like that.

How about this...

Vlave sells Steam to Google for a pile of money and goes back to being just a developer instead of having to be both developer and publisher and also maintain a massive pile of hardware to keep Steam going. Google could take care of the hardware and network business and let Valve do what they do best.

now thats an idea! Valve hasn't come about with much innovation in the source engine. TF2 is really cool and all and its different... but well... we want something valvetastic!

Tech-wise, source is the best thing that Valve has ever done. And the only thing. They aren't id - they aren't about pushing forwards massively and the whole point of Source is to provide a platform for incremental changes with things like portals and dynamic lights or HDR - slow, constant upgrades.
