Chrysler announces three new EVs for 2011

Chrysler LLC debuts Dodge EV, Jeep EV and Chrysler EV



Today Chrysler announced three new EVs. There is a Dodge two-seater that uses the body of a Lotus Europa with a range of 150 - 200 miles. The other two are Jeep and Town and Country conversions. Both will go 40 miles on electric only and have a gasoline generator that provides power to the electric motor once the batteries run out, similar to the Chevy Volt. Seems like Chrysler is trying to play catch-up here with Tesla and GM, but the Town and Country EV could be popular with soccer moms that don't want to sacrifice the space, and off-roaders will like the instantaneous torque the Jeep EV will have. No information on availability outside the US so far.
