[10/08] Newton's motion

Original post below

First entry from me this month. Newton's cradle taken in lowish light with slow rear sync flash.
POTM entry

and another from the set

C&C always welcomed. Its the only way to learn.

Nice

I wish the shadows was a bit less noticeable, and the actual motion was a bit more noticeable.

Maybe try a darker background (not entirely black, though) and a bit more light? This will also bring out more detail in the black cradle.

Love them both, #2 is the winner. Great idea!

ooo I like the second one, very well composed. Certainly more pleasing to the eye.

+1 for #2
I'd probably crop it so that the motion blur is centered instead of centering the cradle. There is also a bit more motion blur in pic #1, and if #2 had a tiny bit less shutter speed so the blur is about as visible as it is in #1, it would make #2 even better i think.

OleJ will become famous soon enough
Not too crazy on the wooden background but #2 is surely the best of the bunch. You could have fooled me into thinking it was a render. Nice job!

Had a bit of a reshoot trying to get an angled shot I liked more and using a different backdrop
What do you think? starting to want a remote flash to be able to kill shadows on backdrops now

I like your most recent version, but I think I would like it even more without the vignette. The vignette doesn't really do much for this shot because the subject is strong enough to hold my attention without the visual aid forcing me into the center of the frame.

I think I perhaps over did the vignette in that one.
This is the same shot with the vignette removed

and this is with the vignette reduced to 30% opacity

I quite like the 30% shot as its just enough to take some of the shine from the wooden shelf and evens up the top corner lighting, but it could just be me.
