Asus VK222H 22" widescreen LCD monitor

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...-lcd-monitor/1

There are a lot of 22-inch displays on the market these days and it isn't easy to navigate your way through the swamp of TN+Film panels. We have a look at the Asus VK222H to see if it can rise above the swamp and catch our eye. Read on to find out how it gets on...

I must say the monitor itself looks quite nice. Shame about the image quality though. IF the quality was better this monitor would have definitely been on my "to buy" list.

While the review was good as usual, a really GREAT idea for this review would have been including a still capture from the webcam.
After all, THAT seems to be the only feature going for this model.
Is this something that could be done? If you're camera shy <insert girly giggle> you could always hold something in front of you.

Butler? Camera shy?

Have you not heard of his illustrious past as a mail-order catalogue model?

the problems you had are charicteristic of DVI connections. I have two widescreen monitors at home, a 1680x1050 dell and a 1440x900 samsung, and when i connect via a VGA cable with either my laptop or my PC, i can choose 1280x720, 1360x768, 1440x900 etc etc, and whether 16:10 or 16:9 i get the options to correct the aspect ratio in the dell monitor menu, when connected via DVI, i don't.

would be interesting to see if you connected the SAME PC via a VGA cable if the aspect ratio correction menus would be restored.

..an additional note here... these are the modes i get by default on DVI on the DELL 2007WFP:

800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x1024, 1600x900, 1680x1050

and when connected via VGA:

640x480, 800x600, 960x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x960, 1360x768, 1440x900, 1440x1050, 1680x1050

now all of those listed above can be enabled by forcing them through the Nvidia control panel, but by default the above list is what i get. i have seen similar things with other LCDs connected via DVI.

The monitor doesn't support 1:1 pixel mapping over any connection (all were tested), but it does support scaling with fixed aspect ratios over DVI/VGA.

So.... when do we finally see some reviews of (s-)PVA LCD displays?

You can review a hundred TN panels. But the outcome will not get better when you have reached panel nr hundred and one...

I've got an MVA display that would've been up today had the panel not been potentially faulty. I'm working on getting some other MVA/PVAs in as well. Sad fact is that the industry is moving to TN and it sucks... hopefully if we say it sucks for long enough, they'll listen.

EDIT: As I type, I'm in the process of procuring a few 24-inchers.

Welll, at least there IS a dedicated button for this and no klick-through-menu-for-input-select ;-)

oooh can you get in that Yuraku one that everyone seems to be raving about? It would be grand if you could. If you don't know it, xtrafresh has one.

And having seen your office, I want to work there!
