EA rumoured to be making new Syndicate
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/10...ew-syndicate/1
It's just a rumour for now, but the word on the grapevine is that Electronic Arts is creating a new Syndicate game, with Starbreeze developing.

I think I may have peed a little
![]() Oh, and I don't think Peter Molyneux had anything to do with Synidacte (other than the fact that he was boss of Bullfrog at the time) - which might explain why it was such a good game

The World needs more Syndicate but StarBreeze better not screw with the formula, expand yes (I would like to add a bit more strategy to zone control on the world map, like money invested in an area gained you more influence over it and could make mission in that area easier and also have more of your corps buildings on the streets, etc) but don't screw with the basics as it was perfect already.

Awesome, I loved the original games, I'll look forward to this if it all works out.
Did anyone else ever play Syndicate Wars while listening to Prodigy - The Fat of the Land? I found they went together perfectly, ahh the memories. |

What we need is more cyberpunk games in general - seems everyone's doing war and fantasy at the moment, but given the potential for cyberpunk and all the stuff out there in terms of literature and movies etc I'm amazed there isn't more work in this area for games too

EA = DRM though. No matter how much I loved the original I won't be getting this unless EA avoids the DRM nightmare.

Yeah, just as it looked like they were starting to turn themselves around, they load every PC release with crappy DRM.

Gauss Gun and the Minigun were classics too. I just hope they get better AI for those escort missions! Man, those civilians were dumb.
My favourite memory is when my brother and I first got Syndicate and loaded it up. My brother looked at the odd island in the middle of the Atlantic (the Atlantic Accelerator, the last and most difficult level) and in curiosity accepted it as his first mission. His squad died in about 3 seconds, if I recall. |

Excuse the double-post, but I've just remembered the cover of the issue of Games Master Magazine carrying the Syndicate review: "BETTER THAN SEX".

I hope they keep the amoral attitude shown in both games, it should look pretty damn good with modern game engines.
One thing I do recall was that the demo of the original had a feature that was missing from the full game - there was a scene where a reviewer set a car on fire with minigun fire and the passengers ran about screaming and he found it very disturbing to listen to. They removed the screams from the final game, wether because it was deemed too graphic or because someone told them to pull it is something that was never explained. I found the screams of the burning Head Crab Zombies in HL2 pretty disturbing but apparantly the Syndicate demo was worse. |

I'm guessing they'll make an FPS out of it. Chronicles of riddick was really good though. Darkness not bad either, but the whole shadow mechanic is getting a little old.

Hey, put your hand up if you're still playing Spore? Leave your hand up if you played and thoroughly enjoyed Black & White unhampered by bugs to the very end of the game. Keep your hand up there if you enjoy purchasing expansion pack after expansion pack for the Sims. Also keep your hand up if you just can't WAIT to play the NEXT C&C title!? ALSO KEEP IT UP IF YOU LIKE TAKING YOUR DRM WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE. Those who see where I'm getting at will avoid this game like the plague. |
