Mygazines.com closes its doors

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/10...es-its-doors/1

Troubled magazine sharing site mygazines.com has officially shut its doors, citing "monetory reasons and the state of the global economy" rather than legal issues for its closure.

Hmmm I didn't even notice this web site. I'll stick with my subscriptions and cover CD's :-)

Didn't know about it either, and TBH, I don't really see the point in mags anymore. The only reason to have one is for something like the train. Even then, I'd probably rather read a paper or a book.

I glanced at the site once after the original news posting and never thought about it again.

That should say "is" instead of "isn't."

I browsed the website a little when it first launched. It was not layed out well. Oh well.

"The first rule of life is that if something seems too good to be true, it usually isn't:"

Never used the site personally.

It's a shame that they're going. Now, if they were to work with publishers, and offer these sort of things with a fairly low monthly cost (say, the cost of a normal magazine, but instead you get 5, 10 or even more subscriptions to read), then there really could be a step forward here. It was so easy to read, the articles and advertisers still leap out, and the publishers retain minimal delivery costs. Where's the loss?
