Plastic Wrapping

Is it just me or is the plastic wrapping that new games and dvds come in the hardest thing in the world to get into?

I ask this as I've just spent 5 mins trying to get into Farcry2 , it's been sat on my desk at work for the last hour or so and I decided to open it up and have a look through the manual (Friday afternoons are always slow). I ended up having to get the scissors out!!!

It's kinda like the opposite of a women asking a man to open the jam jar, my wife (who has nails) has no trouble opening them.

Am I alone in this or does anyone else out there experience the same frustration?

+1

You're right though, opening them can be a bitch sometimes especially when you're in from of the console/PC wanting to play the darn thing.

I've found my hunting knife works best on the thin plastic wrap, but the hard controller type wrapping requires either tinsnips, or if it's out, the Dremel.

Bah. No problem at all.

The plastic is almost always joined where the opening of the cover is. Behind there is the grip where you hold to open the cover. There it is some air between the plastic wrap and the actual cover. (the long side)

Just push the plastic in, and you will find that there is a small flap that you can pull to make the plastic tear.

For shrink-wrapped items, I use a knife. For blister-packed items, I use tin snips. Humans have opposable thumbs instead of claws specifically so we can use tools, so you might as well.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to pack stuff that way should be cursed to open blister packs forever!

Knife cheesecake.

It's a PITA, they seem to have abandoned the pull tabs on the wrapping these days, which were awesome.

Most stores have done away with plastic wrap as the discs are behind the counter. Though Game have now got this seal sticker over the grip for opening the case (so as if its not broken you can return it for your money back). Its designed to split and not come off in one peace which make annoyingly difficult to remove it all completely from your nice new case!

A brand new scalpol blade and some heat (Hold it for in a warm hand, for example) gets them off in one piece in my experience

Actually I find that now they keep them behind the counter/in the store room, there's always plastic wrapping as they have no reason to take it off to take the disc out.
