Left 4 Dead

http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/11/20/left-4-dead/1

Zombies. Lots of Zombies. Throw in an excellent AI engine to spawn hoards of them, and four player co-op to sweeten the deal and you'd better fetch a change of underwear because you're going to need them. Left 4 Dead is finally here, and we take a look to see if it lives up to the expectations.

Just finished the game last night with the same 3 friends. I would easy give it a 9 too. Probably the best co-op experience of the year.

Played the demo... will most certainly get the game.... though found the demo a little stuttery on a e6600, 4GB Ram and an 8800GTX, I hope the game doesn't suffer from the same annoying stutters, espacially when you're about to pop a boomer

yea!

Steam was really really pants a couple of years ago, but they've sorted it out fantastically and compared to every other alternative it's head and shoulders above them.

I was wondering if there was a dedicated server set up for the bit-tech steam group yet?

I play on highest settings @ 1680 x 1050, was playing a co-op at the time so I'm hoping it's just a bit of lag

I just tend to wander down to Game, but call me a rampant traditionalist. I just like the idea that I can't be prevented from playing games I've bought because the publisher forgot/can't be bothered/got bored of supporting the activation servers.

How does the multiplayer piece work....

Do you have to host a server yourself on the same box you are playing on (360 style).. or connect to public server (are these provided or is it like jolt / multiplay etc ?)

Are 4 players co-op the max ?

Are there any other online game modes ... eg. like Hoarde on the 360 etc ?

My copy should arrive tomorrow. On Amazon.co.uk its £19.99 which is actually cheaper than steam due to the $/£ rate at the moment. That's just plain wrong. I would have loved to buy from steam directly, but Im not gonna get robbed !
