Mirror's Edge PC delay down to PhysX

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/11...own-to-physx/1

EA and Nvidia have confirmed that the delay of Mirror's Edge for PC is down to the full integration of PhysX physics effects into the game

Even as a nvidia card owner I completely disagree with this move, they should have released now and patched later. Ah well, perhaps now isn't the best time to release games anyway, too much to play

You aren't missing out on much, just hours spent running into and looking at walls.

From the looks of the trailer it really adds to immersion of the game instead of being a total gimmick.

I totally disagree about releasing it now. If you release the game without the patch and complete it, the wow/excitment factor is lost when you patch it, if you play it again. This can applied to a lot of games, take Far Cry 2 for instance. Completed it with the latest patch for the first time, now if a new patch comes out that adds some FX then that's hardly going to make want to do the whole thing again. Sure I may have a quick look, but that's all, the excitment/anticipation/new game factor has gone, no patch will get that feeling back. One of the reasons why i hold of buying games for a bit, enjoy it the way it's supposed to be, wait till stuff is fixed, one of the reasons why i haven't bought Football Manager 2009. Do you think those playing fm2009 will have the same joy when the final patch is released, doubt it. Waiting will usually mean you'll get the game cheaper too.

As much as we love funky visuals, cool eye candy and real physics, we love playing games more.
Couldn't agree more. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to delay the entire game for months for what is essentially a patch for a select bunch of hardware!

Still, this is tempting me towards a GTX 280 rather than a 4870X2 when I upgrade my PC at the end of the month...

It's a game for burglars, suicidal and paranoid people, they always run away (for something) and with M.E. they can get even more paranoid and jump from large buildings and drop dead...

Personally I like to face people/aliens/monsters and shoot them in the head/tentacle/other parts or blow them or the whole place up with big guns and other devices of mass destruction. I would feel completely helpless without any kind of weapon available in M.E.

I mean, im excited to see real time rips and tears, wind ect. the wind effect was really nice in grid, but seriously what the heck, my xbox 360 died on me so i get stuck waiting that much longer, i guess i'll be waiting. might do the ps3 version, since seems kinda like it'll be better on console free running games seem to play better on that personally. it'll be funny to see how my 9600 gso will hold up on this game.

HURRY UP EA/DICE!! on second note, take your time and a lot of it, i'd hate to see a good game get rushed out and ruined with bad gimmicky physics.

I'd suggest you vary your gaming pleasures or you'll get game boredom syndrom. There's more to gaming than just point/shoot/reload/point shoot reload. Most FPS games do exactly the same thing but with different environments, but just because you're in a forest in one game and a city in another, you're essentially doing the same thing, point/shoot/reload/point shoot reload. I enjoy a good FPS game if it has something new to offer, L4D offers me that atm but i like to vary my gaming from fps to pop cap games and everything in between.

With food you need a balanced diet, the same can be said with games, if you don't alter your balance of games then you're missing out and you know what happens if you eat crap all the time.

I'd suggest more cheesecake in your diet.

Yeah ok, its a shame the PC version is delayed (although this happening more and more these days), but on the whole I think this is good news. For once they are paying more attention to the PC and putting some effort into the port.

Y'know its kinda funny in a way. Usually EA just release games no where near complete THEN patch them. However, now they've got a new feature to add they're gonna delay until it finished. EA, I dont know...

It's a parkour style game. Check the first impression article on it: http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/...irror-s-edge/1

there are sooo many other physics engines out there that are software base and do a better job then PhysX they should use the alternatives instead so that there is less of an issue because it seems like anytime a company has to deal with nVidia whether its hardware or software based there is always delays and headaches ~_~
