Rumour: Ubisoft, EA to buy out SCi, Eidos?

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/12...ut-sci-eidos/1

Rumour on the grapevine is that a 92 percent drop in stock price for SCi has prompted takeover negotiations from EA and Ubisoft.

When are we going to get one mega-conglomerate games company?

You know, like EA or Activision Blizzard, but with more games coming out.

'The Daily Heil' has reported SCi is staffed by AIDS infected, DRUG addicted, TERRORIST IMMIGRANT PAEDOPHILE SINGLE MOTHERS and selling it to Ubisoft or Electronic Arts is an insult to the good working people of this once great country.

SCi also made carmageddon which makes them rulers of the world.

Probably my most enjoyable gaming moments came from Thief 1 & 2 and Deus Ex 1. If there is going to be a takeover, I hope those titles will be kept in production.

+1 on Thief trilogy. But I'm afraid that EA would force developers to make "casual" Thief game. And that would be fatal disaster...

Yeah. Thief, for me at least, was an all consuming passion. I can see why it's tempting to simplify it and expand it's potential customer base. This move would destroy it's exisiting base though so I hope they'll leave it alone.

Exactly - it was hardcore game from the very beginning. Never heard of "causal gamers" playing it anyway(they never liked it). Playing it on expert difficulty is the only way to go...ha, I'll have to replay it once more. There are still gold coins which eluded my perception...

Yeah. I had terrible trouble getting the first game to play XP recently though. Even patched and tweeked to work it would crash regularly
