Very, very impressive! I'm still waiting for Phenom II, though, mostly because it's cheaper. The mobo and RAM cost way less than an X58 + DDR3, even if the PII 940 costs the same as an i7 920.

Pfft, that's nothing. Get 5.5GHz with a 486 and I'll be impressed.

So I'm assuming that this was on LN2 or a cascade system, but does anyone know for sure?

Unimpressive, Phenom II went all the way up to 6GHz. And Intel's pricing is a complete, insane bullcrap. I don't think I will be getting i7 at all, completely not worth it.

Not enough bang for the buck. I have a E8400 and my next cpu will probably be a Q9650 or similar, basically to have 4 cores instead of 2.

Correct me if Im wrong, but the i7's are quad by design. I think having a quad core with eight threads running at 5.5ghz is very impressive. I'd say give the i7 enough time and it'll be as cheap as the Qxxx's are now.

Phenom II @ 6Ghz NB: Not really confirmed.

190x29 made me laugh though. A FSB or 190 isn't that impressive ASUS.

It all comes down to how the 940 competes with the 920 IMO.
