Viewsonic VX2260WM - 22" Full HD monitor
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...l-hd-monitor/1
Viewsonic is the second monitor manufacturer to jump on the 16:9 bandwagon after Iiyama. We check out the VX2260WM, a 22-inch 1,920 x 1,080 display with a decent array of connectivity options, to see how it stands up to what else is out there.

I'd love to see it compared to ASUS VH226H which is also a very small 1080p.

I'd love to see a review on the BenQ E2200HD, E2400HD, M2200HD, and M2400HD as they're part of BenQs new 16:9 range. Maybe Bit-tech could do a 16:9 monitor round-up, and investigate the debate:16:10 vs 16:9.

Well I was planning to get a BenQ G2400WD, now I can't decide If I really need those few extra pixels or should save myself a few quid.

It's the low vertical resolution that's the issue with 19" and 20" wide screens and thus I don't really get the point of the 16:9 panel. 16:10 gives some extra space and unless your main concern is the aspect ratio of the screen when watching movies on it then I'd get a 1920x1200-screen instead.
This is, however, somewhat interesting review because the 16:9 22" screens are dirt cheap and I should get some of these to my sister...

At 24-inches, the 16:9 panel is a step backwards because you're losing real-estate. With 22-inch displays though, you're gaining all round which is really where the benefit is for desktop usage. What does concern me though is that this is driving the minimum barrier of entry for gamers up if 1680x1050 displays are disbanded completely.

are there really any noticeable performance difference between 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200? in FPS, the field of view is going to be the same with same horizontal width, so it should perform the same??

The trend seems to be smaller monitors, smaller dot pitch with larger resolutions. There are now 23" monitors with a TN panel aswell and with 2048x1152 resolutions. These got me really interested....hope to soon see a review there too. Thanks

Ah my bad once again, I didn't realise that indeed in 22"-ers its a step to a larger resolution. I've just wondered why the hell would someone want to go from 1200 to 1080

Yeah a 22" 1080p roundup would be awesome.
Been holding off for a new monitor (have a 6 year old CRT). Always wanted a 22", but hate the strange res of 1680x1050... happy that 1080p is becoming less rare now! Thanks for the review. |

I was looking at one of these in a store the other day. Nice looking monitor and not too pricy.

This looks like a great monitor to use if you're looking to hook up a PS3 or 360 for cheap.

Anyone else buy one of these? I bought one and noticed last night when I was trying to sleep that it kept making noises. Sounded like a plastic bag blowing in the wind. Not a constant noise, just every now and then. Maybe it was just cooling down?

Also Bit-tech, in the Iiyama ProLite E2208HDS review you claimed the panel was 6-bit, are you able to confirm if this Viewsonic panel is 6-bit or 8-bit please?

All greetings! I from Russia. The monitor has worked for me 2 weeks then has broken. (http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=HXWgyOR7qM8) Apparently from video, the monitor itself is switched off and joins. And still very strongly smells as burnt plastic. In my service centre have reserved burnt down
Payment (Power Board) Which 3 months go... I have refused repair after two months of expectation and have demanded to replace the monitor on new, but now it is not known when to me it will bring because at us in Russia it simply anywhere is not present on sale. And the most important thing I not one such with precisely such breakages. At our forums many people complain of such defects of this monitor. Do conclusions more shortly, to buy or not to buy. =) |
