Nokia has filed a complaint with the European Commission over licence fees being extracted by GSM patent holder IPCom, which it claims are unfair.

Can't say I've been overkeen on Nokia's phones for a while.
The license to use the patent should cost the same.

Doesn't surprise me Nokia are pushing this, they've been really struggling especially against Samsung recently.

should cost the same (per unit really). A flat fee to any user is unrealistic.

But only Samsung's mobile division needs to license the patents - wheras 99% of what Nokia does is mobile 'phones. Without the patents, Samsung could easily continue to trade other products - Nokia would be sunk.
