Rumour: EA to announce Battlefield 1943: Pacific

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/...ld-1943-paci/1

The latest rumours on the big Battlefield announcement are that it's a return to WW2 - Battlefield 1943: Pacific may well be shown at NYCC.

I thought 2142 was a good direction, might have been better if they upgraded the graphics etc.

This could mean a decent remake of Wake Island! It never did work in BF2.

I'd welcome battlefield back in the WW2 era. Frankly I'd welcome any new Battlefield as BF2 is a sorely missed friend I just grew tired of (after well over a year of solid play).

WW2 is well overdone though... still I'm currently full of hope.

They'll run into the same problem that COD5 had unless they're careful. They need to make sure that you can still do everything you did that was cool in BF2 and BF2142. The idea of spawning in on your squad leader or setting out beacons should definitely be included as it improved the pace of the game.

They have to be sure that they can make the game more fun in WWII before they make a game there again.

I persevered with Bf2 for years, up until it was clear there were going to be no more *badly* needed patches. I can still remember getting more annoyed than was healthy about the dodgy hit detection, and they never did get the weapon and vehicle balance quite right. Even these days I still play BF1942 and Desert Combat, because, whilst they might not look as pretty, they are at least fun. If a new battlefield game sorts it's act out, and isnt a buggy, horrible piece of unplayable ****, then i'll give it a whirl. I guess i'll wait for the reviews, and a patch or 2....

I always wanted them to remake 1942 or Vietnam.

Oooh, a fresh version of Battlefield Vietnam would be good. Is there anyway to find out if people are still playing a certain game? Because if it's enough, I might re-install BF-V...

For a second there I could have wept with JOY....

then the reality sets in.

Its a CONSOLE and PC release... with upto 24 players online. Its a fracking console levelled release.. Yep that 4yr old Xbox 360 is going to be as good as it gets for us on the PC :-(

Whilst I welcome the news... this isnt what I thought it was going to be. Time will tell.

I don't get the point . COD4 was also both for console and PC and it was great.

It's an Xbox Arcade game...

Looks like it might be releasing this summer:

ok for the 24 people limit, but I can not believe it's going to have only 3 maps. It would be crazy. Also, what do they mean with downloadable game ? That you can not purchase the DVD in shops ? I couldn't care less, hopefully it will get released by steam too.

I'd rather have Battlefield 1944, tbh. Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes > Pacific.

Still, 1942 was always my favourite, so hopefully this'll take the series back to greatness.
