BenQ E2400HD - 24" Full HD Monitor

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/mon...nitor-review/1

Full HD monitors are becoming increasingly commonplace these days in both 22in and 24in panel sizes. We've been impressed by the 22in models we've seen so far, but we haven't looked at a 24-incher until today. Read on to find out how BenQ's E2400HD shapes up.

Is this a fix so that PC games released in 'widescreen' format won't cause a furore in future (ala Bioshock)?

Or more realistically having two competiting widescreen formats made little industry sense.

You mention the better pixel pitch of this monitor in comparison to 16:10 monitors, but it actually has a higher pixel pitch than my 16:10 Gateway FHD2400 (0.276mm vs 0.27mm). There's no reason that the pixel pitch should be any smaller just because of the aspect ratio, either. You're essentially fitting 90% of the pixels on a screen that's 95% the size of a 16:10 monitor.

The BenQ FP241W 24" has been in your "what to buy" guide for month after month, but you'd never looked at it?

So what was this?

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/mon.../Benq_FP241W/1

Edit: Or do you mean only 24" 1920x1080 screens?

Actually Tim was just referring to the fact I popped by the office and my trousers fell down.

I'd be better off with the Viewsonic you reviewed a few months ago then?

Meh... Looks like shat compared to what one would expect from BenQ... I guess it's a sign of the times. 1080 vs. 1200? 1200 all the way.

No matter how may TN panels you are going to review, preview or throw of a roof. The outcome is always the same, its still a TN panel . I really want to see the other 'better' stuff thats around that is not based on a TN panel. review a Full HD 42" plasma as computer screen whatever. That will be much more interessting read then all those TN panels combined...

I'm upgrading from a 20 inch soon, but what sort of graphics card do you need to game at 19xx * 12xx ? Will a 4850 cut it or are you into 4870 territory?

It would make quite an interesting article....hint!

I run my 4850 displayed on a 24inch 1920x1080 (the viewsonic that bit reviewd not too long ago)
I cant max out the details on crysis but it comes pretty close. close enough that the game still looks good. Mass effect, maxed out. what else.. cant remember.
anyway, a 4850 will do, a 4870 would be spot on. in my opinion anyway.

Yeah, I'd love to see a LOT more IPS or PA panels reviewed. It's getting a bit boring looking at the specs and discovering that it's yet another TN panel bit have reviewed.

1920x1200 - GTX260 cuts the mustard. Only game I have to trim down is Crysis.

read somewhere that Dell are producing some 23" 16:9 panels that use a 2048x1152 resolution, so an even higher dot pitch than current 16:10 24" inchers and a clear bost over pretty much anything available at the moment short of 30" screens.

I'm gonna wait for one of those, especially as my S-IPS dell 2007WFP is just awesome for everything, unless i get a significant amount of extra real estate then the loss of image quality going back to TN+Film just isn't worth it.

my 19" Samsung TN+Film has been relegated to the kitchen, it RUINS my desk when placed next to the S-IPS Dell.

I have to add on to this as well. My friends and I are not rich, but even so we stay away from TN panels. I might be wrong but I believe the members of this site do the same. We already know the maximum potential for TN screens, there is never a pleasing surprise. TN's reviews are either barely tolerable or absolute crap. But there are things we can learn from the higher quality monitors. If its 50 to a 100 more for a better monitor we just save up for it longer because we understand the value in doing so. Lets have some reviews on monitors that are quality. Why not, we have reviews on $500 to $600 video cards.

Nice fingerprints on the images.

The stand on this monitor looks rubbish, only tilt adjustment is pretty dire.

I'm married, therefore I = TN.... 8( Wife does not see the benefits of non TN panel... 8( Hell even spending $400 USD which wasn't even mine on a Samsung 2693 caught me some flack. It's a TN panel but it does what I need it do to and that is have multiple windows open to compare code etc...

We've got a 22in SPVA screen with a 10-bit LUT on the bench next... we're certainly hoping that's going to be a bit more fun to review

I'm looking to source more *VA/IPS displays, but it's proving more and more difficult without getting very big
