I never realised that PC Zone used be part of Dennis. These things just pass me by. Was that when Charlie Brooker wrote for it?

Indeed it was. Founded at Dennis in 1992(? maybe 93/4) and on the original team was Charlie Brooker, and also one Daniel Emery who we then recruited to write games for CPC.

Zone was sold to Future, along with C&VG, in 2005.

Speaking of Larrabee, what's the latest on that? We haven't heard anything about it for ages.

Got a feeling it's not going to be out this year - we'll be able to tell a lot from how much they say it IDF (Intel Developer Forum) which is towards end of Sept...

Blimey, you've made another one already.
Have these become a weekly thing now?

Sort of. Depends on time and what we've got to blab about.

We're trying to do 1 gaming 1 hardware alternating so everyone gets a chance to chat and banter.

I like how the gaming podcasts end up drifting into a discussion on hardware, much to the annoyance of Joe. lol

I think you guys should do a late night podcast after some beer/energy drinks just for a laugh. Mind you id hate to be the poor bugger who has to edit that thing!

I found THIS which suggests it'll match a GTX285.
I'll believe that when I see it.

Why edit it? Do it as a special. Host it on bit-tech only, no iTunes (so there isn't a swearing issue). Then do an age verification box on the website so only people who say they're over 18 can download it.
It would be funny if nothing else.
......... And if you decide to do whisky testing I'll be happy to lend my expertise (and some of my bottles) there.

None this week, we've been mental busy with getting things ready for this coming week and it's coming up to the print deadline for the mag too. Hopefully we'll find time during next week

Just listened to the last couple on my commute - usual good stuff. One slight concern - I notice that the podcasts are now bit-tech podcasts with no mention of CPC on the title. Is this a creeping brand change (otherwise why drop the CPC - a name associated with the mag that still effectively runs and manages the podcast?). Will we see CPC the mag change into bit tech the mag sometime in the near future? No worries if we do - it is after all only a name, it is just the obvious creeping nature of this change that is slightly worrying (the worst being that the staff and effort of CPC are absorbed totally into the website and the mag disappears - what will I read on the bog then?)

I think that's just because we're now running the podcast from bit-tech's CMS, so the RSS feed that goes to iTunes has changed. It's not indicative of anything meaningful! CPC is CPC, and bit-tech is bit-tech.

Good informative podcast. Apart from the bit where one of the contributors starting going on about OEM versions of Windows being stripped down. What complete rubbish - OEM versions are fully featured just unsupported by Microsoft in tells of helpdesks etc. A bit worrying comeing from bittech/CPC staff who are supposed to be knowledgable about system building and some pretty bad advice to anyone listening as it can save you a couple of hundred quid getting OEM versions (in days of old at least, W7 seems to be a lot cheaper regardless).
