Well I'm here, and I must say I'm narked that you've changed the forum link on the CPC site to the news article. I'm having to login there via PC Pro now.

Actually I just went there once, manually changed the address to custompc.co.uk then bookmarked it. Vive la resistance!

Yeah, I don't know why they changed it to that - but for the moment it still works.

Thanks Matticus! Nice to hear that, and I think the CPC folks will get used to it... And I hope it will help the bit community get used to the CPC input into the site, too.

I actually quite like the change over.... But I was one of the few who spent most of my time in the hardware/modding/overclocking sections rather than the meeting place. With Bit-Tech's huge userbase of really good modders and overclockers this suits me fine.

Okay, so my curiosity got the best of me and I took a quick gander at the CPC forums...

Sounds like this was a bit of a shock to you guys (as it was to me, coming into the forums this morning to see CPC sections), and I'm glad to see this many already making the move.

I just joined up a few months back and I've already found a home at BT. This forum is a lot smaller that it seems, and in a fairly short time you should be well acclimated. It's very easy to make great friends here, and nearly impossible to pick up enemies.

In closing, I say welcome to Bit-Tech, and good luck!

To be honest, I'm not sure how many of us ex-CPC forumites will actually make the switch over. Many are more than a little annoyed (and rightly so), I think mostly over the way the switchover has been handled as much as anything else (like losing post counts). Many have also expressed their dislike (putting it nicely) for the BT site, rather hastily in my opinion. I think things like this take time to get used to, so try not to be too quick to judge just because it is different to what you are used to.

People by their very nature are resistant to change, and that goes for you guys and gals as much as us, so thanks for being so hospitable with the influx of new and strange people amongst your ranks - I guess that is a testament to the community you have here. Don't worry, through, from having posted on the CPC forums for a while and being a long-time BT reader/occasional forum lurker I can say that we all have the same interests at heart.

So while this all seems a bit foreign to me, I'm looking forward to a fresh start and being part of the already large and well established BT community.

Now I just have to figure out what all this business of cheesecake and owls is all about

On the plus side, I much prefer this vBulletin setup to that old phpBB system we were on
