3D Realms: We haven't closed

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/...ven-t-closed/1

3D Realms has fired back at Take-Two today, claiming that the studio is not finished and that there may be a future for Duke Nukem yet.

And Kudos to azrael- for the tip-off!

I may be prepared to complete DNF myself using ID Software's original Doom engine if Take Two are interested?

So..

The primary game from them in some time has had its development staff let go, but they're not dead?

Yeah. Okay, I see that lasting as long as the court case in which they get their ass handed to them.

I really wish 3D Realms would really just die. They're not game developers. They're hype developers. And **** ones at that.

So DNF is not dead, they just fired the whole design team. So basically DNF is dead.

I am confused...

Ahem.. Prey?

I do wish they'd just bloody finish DNF already though. Guess we're just going to see a more excruciating drag for the foreseeable future, however.

3D realm Tryed to make a High-end Game within a Low Staff Steam and Low Payment it is why DNF was never Release I believe they where like only 30 Programmer to do a Task that require a good hundred of programmer such as you see in Half Life II & Call of duty Series : If in future take 2 Or 3D realm Sell it Franchise and Plot Idea maybe a DNF would be complete. id like to see it complete

Id Like at last one Last duke nukem game before he die he being great with the 3d & is 3d Atomic Edition (Expansion set)
now is somewhat not totally Dead waiting an opportunist in future to Reanimate him just like Command and conquer but will take a longer time

No team developing DNF means no DNF full stop. So maybe if Take Two take all the IP surrounding DNF then we may actually see the game?

After that statement I want TT even less to get the IP/sources from 3DRealms.
I know I'm biased and I don't care but that looks a lot like TT tried to force the hand-over of the source. Even if 3DR were nowhere near finish, this is just a farce.

I hope this ends soon and TT don't get anything out of it.

Wouldn't it be easier to just give Take Two all the IP for Duke Nukem, then they have got everything that the "money" was "spent" on and have no further claim to money?

Our best bet is if they open source what they have seeing as they are never going to use it.

This topic of 3DRealms, Take-Two and DNF is starting to become as big a joke as DNF's development. When will it end!

So they dind't finished DNF with the full team, and now they are trying to fool us that they will do it with PART of them???

For the sake of DNF, sell the franchise! Or just die quietly before it comes even a worst joke!

BTW, "Prey" is a stupid game! Let us "pray" it dies here!

Prey is a love-it-or-hate-it game. I personally loved it.

Frankly, what studio wouldn't fire people that took 12 years to not finish a game?

ok, firstly, don't you ever talk about a company that gave me so many many hours of bliss like that ever again! They may have made a big cock up but they still made great games!

Secondly...well.... just let it rest please! we're all tired of Duke Nukem Never, i just hoped that the franchise would die an honorable death and be let go quietly and not be hassled by the inevitable law suits!

It's funny how DNF in F-1 stands for "did not finish". :B
