On Our Desk - 17
http://www.bit-tech.net/bits/2009/05...-our-desk-17/1
This time in we're looking at a video-watch, a networked USB hub, an 8GB e-SATA thumb drive, a Lego Technic model and a pair of magnetised USB keys in the shape of some tiny octopuses. That last item might not be the weirdest thing we've looked at, but it's definitely the creepiest.

i've just been looking at the IcyBox USB NAS-like solution, your article raised a point: drivers?
i'd like to access the USB HDD's i've attached on my Hackintosh, Linux boot and Windows. by driver, do you mean it's not actually a NAS server? it's just a controller waiting for Windows driver calls?

I want that Lego truck!
You guys did mess up the build, though. You put the steering wheel on the wrong side.

The Lego buggy is brilliant. I have similar technic kits, combined with the NXT Mindstorm, and Microsoft Robotics Studio to program them.
And on top of the fun, I learn how to write proper robotic software!!! |

I've got that Lego kit, actually. The 8275 digger is better as it's remote controlled, as well as being a more complex build.
Technic went downhill a few years ago and they only just seem to be fixing it. I wish they're release a third Test Car, though - got the first cheap in a local toy shop when they were closing down, never bought the Test Car 2 as it was too expensive, then just suddenly seemed to vanish. The Lego model I really want right now? The Collectors Edition Imperial-class Star Destroyer. But they've stopped selling it in the UK.

a shame it's all studless these days. it is much easier building something out of the blue with those studs on them.
nonetheless, i want that truck. now.

It took you 8 hours to build that trunk? Pah n00bs. When it was 12 i probably could have built that in 2 hours. I guess id be a bit rusty now.
