News Christians protest EA's fake Dante protest

Christian groups are lashing out at EA over a marketing campaign for Dante's Inferno that involved a fake protest against the game.

 

The Christian groups in question have fallen right into EA's trap, they are now providing tones of free publicity.
Nice work EA.

Another sad day in the US. It's ok if the government in CA rob you blind with taxes, yet a TV ad is the end of the world.

Marketing is about the only thing EA do right on a regular basis, these days.

 

This was pretty bad of EA. Why would they deliberately antagonise a large group of people, many of whom are gamers? This was always going to come across as offensive, unlike the accidental offence caused by the inclusion of Koranic verses in Little Big Planet, for example.

hahaha, thats hilarious. Its obviously a fake with a motto that good, no way anyone besides a PR firm came up with that.

 

They know that Christians won't buy a hard 'M' game like this anyway, so they don't really worry about offending them. Also, Christians don't do very much when they're offended. The Muslim community was threatening violence because of the LBP thing, which is far more serious then a magazine writing a scathing review.

I disagree. I'm a Christian, and at least half my games are 15s, 18s, or Ms. Same goes for some of my Christian friends. We don't have a single, homogeneous "Christian standard" that precludes us from enjoying half the entertainment enjoyed by everyone else.

True on the second part, though. It's always safer to risk offending Christians, if you have to offend someone, because, on the whole, Christians won't threaten to behead you.

Still, it seems a bit tasteless that EA would do it on purpose.

Wow, not to go off another topic, but it's nice to know you guys can see this happening too. It's going to be interesting later on how it all plays out.

 

I'm not gonna hide my bias on this one. Whoever thought this up in EA needs to be promoted to head of marketing (if they werent there already). The PR this game has gotten more than makes up for any "ill will" from the far (off the deep end) right. Now... whether this game is any good or not... thats still a crapshoot.

 

I know the state government is about to shut down.. literally end of the month- schwarzenegger said if they can't balance the budget he won't take another loan and our state will literally stop lol how come our state is so corrupt.. we got rid of davis and that helped a bit.. triple car taxes showed how far out of touch with reality our governor was

that's funny EA would do this.. would have been better if it was targeted at gays XD have guys marching around shirtless with rainbow signs jaggin each other in the ass with the poles.. that would have probably stirred up more reaction here in cali
