What Hardware Should I Buy? - July 2009

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buy...uy-july-2009/1

Another month and another four systems, as we delve into online stores to seek out the bargains to decide which setups, for a range of budgets, are the best your money can buy.

Good round up. I'd just like to add those people upgrading to a Q9650 it is an excellent chip. I got mine to 4Ghz stable.

The only problem being that people with older motherboards P965 and P35 might have problems getting their 2x2Gb Ram running above 950Mhz.

I know my Asus Commando has this issue and that the Ram will need to be flashed. To do with BIOS problem, not being able to set the TRFC setting to above 42. Most 2x2Gb Ram needs 54.

More info at the OCZ official support forums.

With the other bits and pieces I have picked up over the past couple of months the exthusiast system is coming in at under a grand for me now, highly tempting

what happened to Bittech? your case recommendations used to have so much class. now it's all tacky LED business (except for the most expensive bundle)

everything else looks spot on though. can't wait to see what mobo you recommend for LGA1156 when it comes out

Nope sorry. I'm just not testing HTPC stuff as much as I'd planned in order to give a proper recommendation.

I need a monitor recommendation in the £100 to £200 ...not least because reviewers (inc B-T) are always moaning at how similar they are ..."not another TN"!

Some I have/am considering...

LG W2261V (looks bueatiful but is that enough?)
BenQ E2200HD (washed out colours apparanently and strange styling)
Hyundai W220 (has been recommended but only in one place)
Samsung Syncmaster T220 (but is it a Samsung screen or a cheaper, poorer quality affiliates???)

Please, Bit tech needs to stop moaning at the sameness of them all and give some clarity to the visuals!

We haven't reviewed any for so long we took it out since it wouldn't be current. We only recommend things we know.

Nice roundup, glad to see the AMD X3 in the list.

On displays, give the Dell 2209wa a look. Was the best bang-for-buck couple of months ago when I picked one up.
