Using networked vista printer in os x !

Hi guys, I have spent the last 45 minutes or so trying to get my unibody macbook to find and recognize the hp laserjet 2605 printer which is shared on my windows vista server, and my attempts have yet to be successfull...! I need your advice!

Name of vistaserver : vistaultimate
Name of shared printer : Laserjet

I have also tried installing the lpd printserver package for vista, but didnt work either...what am I doing wrong?

1) vista and server in the same sentence, no less the same word/phrase
2) Vista

ok now to help you..

1) different OS choice
2) If there are drivers for the printer in OSX, get them and install them in OSX, then try to set it up.

Have Mac OS drivers of your printer installed on your Mac system, then add the printer from the network.
What you did is technically correct if it was Windows to Windows as Vista (win7 also), will send to the other computer the drivers and install it automatically and then add the printer for you.
As Windows and Mac OS are well different OS and works differently, Windows can't feed to the Mac OS, Windows drivers of your printer.

I already have the osx drivers installed on my mac and when I choose the printerdriver from the drop-down menu I choose the right ones, the problem seems to be the connection?

make sure the connections are solid are fully inserted, is the "vistaserver" or lan or wlan?

the server is connected to my router via lan as is my xbox, and my macbook is on my wlan, but I can easily connect to my server when using the "connect to server" function in finder, and browse my shared folders, its just the damn printer!

check the sharing on the printer itself on your "server" box, that is most likely to be the cause
