Is it one photo per day in this thread, or one photo per day, per member?

Here are mine, if they're not supposed to go here, I'll edit them out.

Technically they're not today's shots, but I missed this thread.

Check out the exif data on the flickr page - 300mm, f6.3, 1/30 exposure.

Make sure the camera is on continuous auto-focus - with a moving target it'll need to keep re-adjusting. Mount the camera on a tripod too - it really helps.

It's a single exposure with an ND grad filter. I turn all saturation and contrast down in the camera so that I don't get overblown highlights on the histogram (which is derived from the JPG). I then make a second exposure once I've got the one I'm happy with so that I can add the colour/saturation back in in a way which is true to the original scene.

EDIT: this one is straight out of Camera RAW with no adjustments: http://forums.bit-tech.net/album.php...pictureid=6946

Basically, the brighter parts of the image are usually blown out at the camera's default settings, so I turn all of the in-camera processing off to get a more accurate exposure reading. It gives a better starting point for post processing.

I hope those two things aren't bizarrely related.

What type of boxes are those? My westcott 28" box just recently frustrated me by not staying open. I'm sure it's an easy fix but I had to run to the car and get a shoot-through umbrella because of it.

24" Lastolite EZ-Boxes with a cold shoe adapter (mk2 to fit the SB900). They are awesome, double diffused yet collapsible like a pop open reflector.

They come as a kit, but I ordered the boxes and the bracket separately to make sure I got the newer mk2.

is the Westcott one with tent poles?
