Build Advice Converting old comp into RAID server. Will this new MOBO work?

I want some data redunancy so I'm going to take parts out of my old media center PC that's sitting in the basement and turn it into a RAID 5 server, using software raid in linux.


I'm going to take these old parts:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Cannibalized 250W PSU
DDR2 800 Ram

and plug them into a new MOBO:

Jetway MOBO with integrated GPU (Radeon 3100)

The new motherboard has DDR2 1066 slots. Will my old DDR2 800 ram work with it?

Also here's the case I want to use: Antec 300 or maybe a 200. Everyone says it's ugly, but I like the look.

Now some questions: Will software raid 5 be good enough for a media server? Will the integrated Radeon 3100 be fast enough to play HD video?

Will it be a server or a media centre?

It'll be fine for freenas as a server & should play HD but Linux isn't great for HD due to codecs.

 

It will be both. I use vlc to play videos on linux, so I don't need all the codecs.
